Rhythm of The Day
Certain things catch your eye, but pursue only those that capture your heart.
Old Indian Saying
Rhythm of The Day, 20 inches by 20 inches, mixed media on birch panel, by Leslie Avon Miller
After a six week hiatus during which I connected with people I love, tended to things around home and had a vacation I went back to the studio today. I had completed this painting prior to my break and forgot about it, so it was a nice surprise to find it again. I decided it was done.
Nancy Natale was kind enough to send me some information she had put together on photography of art work, so I worked with that today. Thanks Nancy. I’ve spent the day making marks, adding colors and shapes and playing more than working really. It’s been relaxed and satisfying. I look forward to creative time tomorrow. I feel a little greedy about it actually. Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.
Just as appetite comes by eating, so work brings inspiration. – Igor Stravinsky

This is beautiful Lesley.
ReplyDeleteThanks Z. Nice to see you around. I hope this means you feel better.
ReplyDeletethis turned out great!
ReplyDeletekinda like clouds raining...
i like gray too
what a nice 'surprise' to come back to your studio after such a hectic busy time and find a wonderful beautiful painting waiting there for you--and it is 'done' for sure.
ReplyDeleteWonderful painting! Your usual combination of great textures and subtle but effective color. Nice design, as well.
ReplyDeleteA hiatus sounds so good right now - I'm sure it has recharged your creative engine. Looking forward to seeing what comes of it.
Oh Leslie, what a wonderful way to greet my day. This painting speaks to me of elephant herds migrating across vast plains. An aerial view. Can you see them? They've reached the escarpment in their hundreds.
ReplyDeleteWow Robyn, now that you have introduced me to the elephants, I do see them. I am sure they have a rhythm to their day too. I like that.
ReplyDeleteCertainly a wonderful surprise to find a painting either finished or not. I have always found to place a painting in question in an area where one one come upon it by surprise and seeing it suddenly helps one to decide if it is finished or not. In your case, it was finished.
ReplyDeleteI must say this painting has the feel of Chinese screens or scroll paintings as I see a landscape with water coming over the edge as clouds move by, signaling a possible storm.
Beautifully done!
Thank you for sharing
Egmont
I find it stuning - simply exquisite and light and playful.
ReplyDeleteBig smile.
Love your new header and the sense of movement in your new piece.
ReplyDeleteLovely reading everyones comments here about your painting Leslie...I love that your work conjures up so many visions for individual viewers. Love what Robyn can see..."clouds raining" is beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteI see flocks of birds and sense thoughts of flight, but then I've got a thing about wings at the moment :)
Hi Leslie,
ReplyDeleteThe painting is lovely. It could easily have been inspired by your new header pic!
Mmmm - that's yummy.
ReplyDeleteThis is so multi-layered and wonderful. Reminds me of looking thorough a dirty window at swirling fog...I'm sure it is even lovelier seen up close!
ReplyDeleteThis painting is beautiful, whatever people may see in it, the overriding emotions it arouses in me are those of freedom and spontaneity. A truly inspired abstract.
ReplyDeletejust gorgeous. love the transparent quality you've created.
ReplyDeleteGood decision! That painting is perfect. I very much like it.
ReplyDeletelove the smudging at the top like two bruises :)
ReplyDeleteSimply put...I like this piece in all it's beautiful layers. How nice to reconnect with it after your travels. Also what fun entering your space...touching, drawing as greeting a dear friend...parts of yourself!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. You should be proud!
ReplyDeleteLovely, soft, dripping peacfulness...I like it alot.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your reply to my 'drawers' comment the other day. I had a feeling you'd understand my excitement!
ReplyDeleteInternational Blog Action day is when bloggers all over the world all post about climate change (this year's theme, last year was poverty) in an effort to get as many people talking/acting on climate change. The big day is OCT 15. So far there's something like 2000 blogs signed up from 124 countries!
Such lovely work.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see it again.
Buster says HI!
Uau, quina textura, es preciosa!
ReplyDeleteHere's to a wonderfully greedy time for you, making more, more more of these excellent works!
ReplyDeleteI DO feel the rhythm!
I also loved reading your previous post about the junk drawer. Talk about old memories!
We have a junk drawer now,,,but it's not nearly as intriguing as the one from childhood.
I just noticed your sign on the award free bog.
ReplyDelete*phew*
I have never quite known how to polietely refuse teh blogs, as you are rarely given the chance to refuse anyway.
Something- I could never discover what - always felt creepy to me.
Kind of incestuous, chain lettery, saccharine..
I am glad to see this logo as in the past I have just ignored the awards.
Thanks for linking to me, Leslie. I hope you found the photo info helpful.
ReplyDeleteYour latest is lovely!
