Sketchbook Pages
Stung by the splendor of a sudden thought.
- Robert Browning, wise man.
Thoughts crossing my mind.
Explored and visualized freely.
Germinate in sketchbook form.
Michele’s pages intrigue me.
I often find parallels with my own dream imagery here. She is filling a sketchbook in 30 days. Much more to see at her blog.

What’s in your sketchbook?
Hi Leslie . . great reminder to go to sketchbook to loosen up . . less "precious." I enjoy your workgloves, images, and the other links you've posted. I am amazed at Michele's one-a-day. All this very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteNot so precious - so true Jann! I find I have my sketchbooks open when I am painting so I can dash off an idea to see what I think before I add to the painting. Or to use up some paint... or to loosen up...
ReplyDeleteYour sketchbook looks great Leslie!
ReplyDeleteI want to touch it and prefer to hold in my hands.
and the work of Michele excite me too
again a wonderful post.
p.s. super header!
Yes, love those gloves! makes me think wabi sabi! Love the sketch book, it's a nice reminder for me to loosen up and play more. Thanks for the great links. Michelle's work looks amazing
ReplyDeleteGreat quote. These sketchbooks just show how many wonderfully creative souls are out there. Well done!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to see your pages. Thoughts crossing your mind is the one that sparks for me and I'm glancing down at my own writing notebook beside me seeing how the visuals are all inside the words there, hoping that they might become new visuals in the minds of readers. Your sketch reminds me of the movement, the feeling, the gesture, the dance of marks on paper even though I didn't make them.
ReplyDeleteThose gloves are just great! I'm guessing that they find their way into the bin at some point, but I'm wondering if this pair need to be part of the sketchbook?
I was so excited about this post that I scrolled right down to the end of Space and Light to comment!.....again.....I am so inspired by this post.....as I am packing for my journey.....two empty brown paper sketch books keep following me around....now I know they are meant to be tossed into the 'take' box and filled to the brim with marks! Can't wait to report on this!
ReplyDeleteThank You Thank You! Marianne
Great sketchbook images and thanks so much for the links. Absolutely love the gloves...frame them!
ReplyDeleteOh that glove is a masterpiece! You need to sign it! Lovely sketchbook pages and thoughts Leslie...... and such a great title too. Off to look at Michele's sketchbook (and thanks for the mention :-)
ReplyDeleteI just so much love to have a look at other artists sketchbook , because I think that is one place where you work just for yourself and not really intend to show it ! Your sketchbook looks exactly how I imagined it to look like !
ReplyDelete+ Thank you heaps for showing some of my work :)
Loved your post, as always!
ReplyDeleteYour sketchbooks are wonderful! I am inspired.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking a lot of sketchbooks lately. I can't help but, agree with Ralf that I want to touch and hold yours!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Very inspiring pages. And I look forward to following the links. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Leslie - the gloves are gorgeous and your sketchbooks very inspiring; they look close to finished works tome. I loved the links as well - we saw Imbi's exhibition in Darwin recently so it was great to track back and find her again. Thank you!
ReplyDeletei think it's cool.
ReplyDeletelike this post & the artworks.
LAM - love the sketch books - to me they are like completed pieces of art - but have to laugh compared to those presented mine are just hen scratches - some sketches don't even make it into my sketch book but rather any scrap of paper - I am currently working on sculptures for exhibiting at a country estate - all my pieces were scrawled on a single piece of recycled paper - maybe I need to bind them. Go well. B
ReplyDeleteje suis émerveillé de la photo-titre...avec les gants.. une signature coloré d'une belle artiste !
ReplyDeleteWow, just love these pages - the vibrant energy in each one. Thanks for sharing them-very inspiring! I just started my first journal, and with the exception of one, the pages are much more controlled and thought out. Interesting because the favorite page in my own journal is the one that was free hand and done most quickly. I'll try to continue along this path!
ReplyDeleteexhaling v e r y slowly.
ReplyDeleteHi L. I am trying to get back to the blog world again and of course yours is the first one I check out.. love your sketch book pages-- so loose and so like your finished works.. and of course the sketchbooks of the others too.. I myself have gotten away from using a sketch book-- as a matter of fact I never used one- preferring to use loose paper and stacking them and going through them when I am looking for an idea or starting point.
ReplyDeletethanks for the peek into your sketchbook. always inspiring. and for the links and gloves and kafka quote.
ReplyDeleteYeah, great quote and fantastic sketch pages...love them, their spontaneity, movement, and strength..

ReplyDeletethose gloves speak volumes - great! I just love sketchbooks - thanks for sharing your own and the links to the others - fascinating Leslie
ReplyDeleteLeslie--when I look at these sketches in your notebook--I have the same feeling that I have when I listen to someone speak another language--as if your black lines were words of Italian or Farsi and they flow around me like a gentle current of water. It's a lovely feeling!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous imagery. I love that you did in shades of black/white.
ReplyDeleteSeems i was here Long Time ago. U sent me travelling around to beautiful worlds.
ReplyDeleteAm starting sketch book i call of Grunts in paint and charcoal. So pre verbal. Fun.
Your sketchbook is wonderful! filling a sketchbook in 30 days is a great idea- such an exercise is likely to allow all sorts of creative thoughts to percolate up to the surface!
ReplyDeleteFascinating post with all the sketchbooks.
ReplyDeleteI, too, adore your header!
I don't routinely keep a sketchbook,,but bits and scraps of paper with notes & doodles of projects.
It has been a while since I visited your blog. I can see I missed a lot of great posts and art. Love your sketchbook and those of your guest! Nice to see Cy Twombly on the sidebar. His work opened so many doors for us.
